It was a case of so near for Outlane junior Alex Birchenall over the Christmas period.
The promising youngster first partnered Paul Smallman to second place in the Pros 4-Ball Strokeplay competition on the 20th December with a score of 59, then teamed up with Paul Reynolds for another runners-up spot a week later when they scored 47 points in the Stableford event. What made matters worse was that it was his father Keith who came good, with Andy Green, to register 49 points to pip his son in the Stableford event!
The second division competitions were both won by Gary Moulson and Nigel Bawn with a 57 nett and 49 points. Another junior Matthew Clark partnered John Drake to second place in the second competition.
