Field of Over 100 to Contest Alliance at Heath

The start sheet for the latest Halifax, Huddersfield & District Golf Alliance meeting at Crosland Heath Golf Club has now been published - see it here.

A full field of well over 100 competitors will play at the heathland venue next Tuesday with a record-equalling number of professionals taking part, no less than 14 in total.

After postponements due to snow in the last two fixtures (at Ryburn and Meltham) everything is set for a fantastic event where host Head Professional, Richard Lambert, is hoping for a good performance over his home track. Lambert joined The Heath just under a year ago after moving from Scunthorpe. He built a reputation for teaching at Lincoln Golf Club in the Midlands, however, it will be his playing skills he hopes will be on top form when he partners Club Captain Raymond Owen at 10.40am. Another professional attached to the Crosland Club, Chris Hanson, plays at 11.40 partnering A Appleyard and will be expected to be amongst the leaders.

Order of Merit Leader David Astin teams up with his regular partner, Andy Cryer, as he looks to extend his lead over Willow Valley's Lee Shepherd who does not play.

Alliance Assistant-Secretary James Washington said, "Looking at the forecast it looks like we will finally get the season underway. With the false starts already this year it is really pleasing to have such an impressive field for this fixture. The support we are getting from everyone is tremendous." He added, "I have visited the course this morning and the course looks in excellent condition. Hopefully we can finally get the Alliance off and running in 2009."
