Play with a Star of the Future - IIGE Golf Day

Chris Hanson and The International Institute of Golf Education (I.I.G.E.) are inviting local golfers to take part in a unique challenge and at the same time help both Chris and potential golfing stars of the future.

Interested parties can enter a team of three golfers to play 18 holes of golf at De Vere Oulton Hall Golf Club, previously home to the ‘Leeds Cup’ - a major event on the PGA North Region tournament schedule and a regular venue of the PGA Europro Tour.

Similar to a 'Pro-Am', each team will be provided with a Collegiate Tour player, all of whom retain a handicap of 4 or less. Following coffee & bacon rolls on arrival the main competition format is a Fourball Betterball Team Stableford event with additional individual spot prizes for Nearest-the-Pin and Longest Drives leading to a magnificent prize table. Gentlemen must have a handicap of 24 or less and ladies no higher than 36.

Oulton Hall is also the venue for a fantastic evening of fine food and entertainment with a three-course meal, presentation of prizes, raffle and auction. The after-golf entertainment commences at 4.00pm with pre-dinner drinks.

Hanson, who due to the current econmoic climate has lost his main sponsor, is hopefully about to undertake another season of competitive golf on a combination of the PGA European Tour Challenge Tour, the Europro Tour and Players Tour (North West). He is actively seeking funding and support through events such as the I.I.G.E. AM-AM tournament.

As a past student of the International Institute, the Crosland Heath star played many times on the Collegiate Tour and in 2005 was named Player of the Year with a stroke average of 69.67. The Tour enables young golfers to take part in 15 tournaments at different locations throughout the year with a points accumulation system.

The top 8 players from the Order of Merit qualify to represent the Tour at the grand final in Portugal. Here, the best players from the Tour will battle out over seven days of hot competition, as well as representing the Institute in an International match versus the Portuguese National Squad. A portion of the costs for the final are raised by the qualifying players and the remainder to be raised by events such as the ‘Principals Challenge Shield’ & ‘I.I.G.E AM-AM’.

This year will be the inaugural running of the “I.I.G.E. Am-Am” and the team competition takes place on Friday 17th April 2009.

Richard Daniels, manager of the Collegiate Golf Tour, said, "We very much hope that Huddersfield Golf Blog readers will be able to join us on what will be a thoroughly enjoyable day of classic golf with an action packed evening. The whole aim of the day is to raise funds for the both Chris and the Collegiate Golf Tour. Please note that additional tickets to the evening function are also available at a cost of £25.00 per person should anybody wish to bring a partner."

He added, "There are also individual sponsorship packages available should you be unable to attend on the day but wish to support Chris’s playing schedule for the 2009 season and the prospect of sending 8 budding golf stars to play what could be the game of their life."

Entry is £200 per team with details about the event and sponsorship available by contacting either Daniels (mob: 07818615421, email: rdaniels@myerscough.ac.uk) or Hanson (mob: 07739004443, email: chanson2522004@hotmail.com). Both will be able to provide an official entry-form.
