Willow Valley Round Up

The January Stableford at Willow Valley Golf Club was contested on the first Sunday of the month. Neil Greenwood scoring 40 points managed to edge out Bill Brodzinski by a single point. The 2nd Division was more clear cut with Ben Muncaster scoring a fantastic 44 points coming out on top by four points from Harry Westworth and Dan Barwick.

The following weekend saw a Saturday Stableford take place, Ahsan Khan took the Division 1 honours with 29 points, 5 points clear of second placed Neil Mortimer. Whilst Division 2 winner, Club Captain Steve Taylor, managed 33 points Toni Witeszcack and Gary Green finishing as runners-up on 32 points.

The second Saturday Stableford (17/01/09) saw Vice Captain Ahsan Khan emerge victorious in Division 1 for the second week in a row on a countback from Shaun Helliwell and Neil Mortimer who shared the second place all scoring 32 points. In Division 2 Steve Durkin came out on top scoring 36 points followed by David Sharpe on 33 points.

Another Stableford was played on the 18th January, Shaun Helliwell’s 34 points enough to take the Division 1 honours by a point from Neil Greenwood and Ahsan Khan. Division 2 was also keenly contested and saw victory by a single point - on this occasion it was Malcolm Hirst with 40 points taking the prize ahead of Ben Muncaster on 39 points.

February Stableford (no. 1) was played on Sunday the 1st. Janet Tedstone scored 34 points giving her a two point winning margin in Division 1 over Chris Nuttal who scored 32 points. Division 2 saw some excellent scoring - Mark Budby with an impressive 42 points came out on top by 5 points from the consistent Ben Muncaster.

The Second February Stableford contested on the 15th and saw the first golf played for two weeks due to snow fall covering the course. David Stack scored an excellent 36 points to take the top honours by 3 points from Michael Fletcher and Chris Nuttall. Division 2 saw impressive scoring from Darren Broughton with an excellent 42 points edging out Ahmed Aftab who finished second with a steady 39 points.
