A further indication that the Huddersfield, Halifax & District Golf Alliance is going from strength to strength is the announcement this week that next Tuesday's meeting at Halifax Bradley Hall will carry a Sponsor.
D W Developments, a local Building and Joinery Contractor, have put their name to the event at the Holywell Green club. The Huddersfield based firm was established in 1996 after being set up by a self-employed Joiner straight from leaving school. They have worked on various housing projects for several local firms in the area.
The Sponsorship will beneficially impact the Alliance in a number of ways with the most significant change being an increase in the number of prize winners. There will be four prizes in both the Am-Am and Pro-Am plus there will be a nearest-the-pin prize as well on the day.
James Washington, organiser of the Alliance, told the Huddersfield Blog, "I believe it is a long time since an Alliance event was sponsored and just shows the increasing popularity of the event."
He added, "With the Sponsor in place we are proud to display 128 competitors for Tuesday which is a superb field. Even more impressive is the fact that the record for the number of professionals playing has been surpassed with a magnificent 17 down to play on Tuesday. The Alliance would like to thank all our representatives at each member club for ensuring that the number of competitors continues to increase. Thanks would also liked to placed with the Professionals who are also supporting the Alliance brilliantly."
