Crow Nest Park Golf Club celebrated the start of the new season with a special weekend where five respective Captains all drove into office.
Martin Broadbent and Helen Pearson are the new Gents and Ladies Captains, whilst Peter Horrocks (Rabbits), Denis Hitchcock (Seniors) and Ben Adamson (Juniors) joined them on Saturday for the special celebration. Pictured above from the left; Adamson, Broadbent, Pearson, Hitchcock & Horrocks.
The weekend began with a 'Captain`s Thank-you' party on Friday evening that was attended by over 100 members and their guests. The following morning 104 golfers weathered the blustery conditions and welcomed the incoming Captains into office at the Hove Edge club. The members played a 9-hole Texas Scramble which was won by the 4-man team of John Haverstock, Janet Longbottom, Stephen May and Alesandro Gathardo. A nearest-the-pin competition was won by Trevor Mitchell.
The incoming captain, Martin Broadbent was presented with his Captains jacket by the outgoing Club Captain, Raj Panesar, at the presentation on Saturday evening. Broadbent is a local men who has been a member at Crow Nest since the course opened.
After a fabulous 2008 Pearson will be hoping that official duties do not deter from the quality of golf she produced last year as she will be defending three of the club's 'Major' competitions.
It would certainly appear that will not be the case as the following day Broadbent and Pearson teamed up to win the The Bader Cup, a foursomes competition. The successful Captains won on a countback beating four other couples.
Good Luck and best wishes to the five of you!
