Hanging Heaton will take their place in the 6th Division of the Yorkshire Team Championship at Abbeydale next week after filling the sixth and final qualifying place in the 7th Division round at Hunley Hall last week.
Tom Hill collected a prize for the leading first round score with an excellent 74 and although he fell away in the afternoon his morning effort was certainly key to the 9-hole clubs progression. Tom Goodair was on equally good form and matched Hill's round of 74 in the afternoon and his total of 154 was comfortably the teams best.
Hanging Heaton will join near neighbours, Dewsbury District, at the Sheffield course a week today after the Mirfield club retained their status from last year.
Crow Nest Park just missed out as they finished in seventh position whilst Todmorden ended their campaign for 2009 in a disappointing 16th place. Both sides must face pre-qualification next year.
