Outlane enjoyed a terrific weekend of golf with two competitions taking place.Firstly on Saturday father and son Keith and Alex Birchinall combined to win the Union 4-Ball Qualifier on a countback from Dennis Pearcey and Dave Cromack. Andy Lister and Andy McLaughlin finished in third despite having two gross eagles! All three pairs qualify for the Union 4-ball final.

The Howlett cup was then played in fine conditions on Sunday and after a pulsating knock-out format final Jarrad Hazelden triumphed. Jarrad is pictured above receiving the trophy from Peter Lawrence Brown, the present Captain at Outlane.
The Howlett cup is played by all the seasons 12 major winners over 11 holes. The worst scorer after each hole is knocked out. Should there be a tie for worst score, there is a 'play off' with a designated shot to nearest the pin, chosen by the Professional, the furthest away being eliminated. Last years Captain, David Berry, finished as the runner-up.
