The Junior Claret Cup was played at a slightly damp Bradley Park Golf Club earlier this week with 79 youngsters taking part.A delighted sponsor, David Cox of Hebden Bridge, who with his wife Janet put on a splendid day, were extremely pleased with the record turnout of juniors.
The competition has been run for five years now and gives the young juniors, who don't get to play in competitions because of their high handicaps, a chance to play and gain experience. Clubs can enter as many juniors as they want and whilst there are individual prizes on offer there is also a team prize to win the Claret Cup.
This year the event was won by Crow Nest Park with 87 points (Scott Henry and Lewis Hobson - pictured above with Mr Cox) with the former taking the individual prize with a magnificent 45 points. Crosland Heath came second with Outlane third. Georgia Wilson (pictured right) was the leading girl.
