Ben Crowther fired back-to-back rounds of 73 to win The Whitley Cup at Dewsbury District Golf Club on Saturday.
Union team regular Crowther cruised to a three stroke victory with room to spare in the annual 36-hole strokeplay scratch championship. Adam Crum, assistant professional at the club, also carded an opening 73 but his 76 in the afternoon was only good enough to take second place.
Meanwhile D Smethurst (13 hcp) captured The Claret Jug, a handicap competition run in conjunction, with nett scores of 67 and 66.
