President Turner Turns up the Heat!

Crow Nest Park Golf Club held its annual Presidents Day on Saturday with John Turner being the host official. The day opened with some cloud cover but as the day progressed the weather got better and better. With the course being in its best ever condition golfers revelled in the balmy conditions and the scores were of a very high standard.

The Ladies had held their Presidents Day competition the week before and the winner on a countback, with a super 37 stableford points, was Margaret Mitchell (left). The trophy was presented to the winner at the evening presentation, and Margaret who`s husband had passed away earlier in the season received a resounding and tremendously emotional ovation.

The junior title was won by 13-year-old, Scott Henry, who gave a very polished speech in front of over 100 members. No mean feat for someone of his age.

The final presentation of the evening was to the overall men's winner who was Jim Lough who is one of the Club Professional`s assistants. Jim (pictured below with Turner) won the competition with a very creditable net 65. He played in the first group of the day and obviously benefited from the cooler conditions of the morning. In second place was Danny Lax, last years Junior Captain, who beat Kevin Carr on a countback with a net 66.

President Turner presented the prizes and amused the members with a selection of humorous stories. The evening celebrations went on into the early hours as many members stayed on after the presentation to be entertained by a local singing duo and disco. Everyone enjoyed a first class day.
