Sparkling Spencer Wins Hamer Rosebowl

The John Hamer Rosebowl, a gents strokeplay competition, was played on Saturday when a field of 160 golfers took part at Bradley Hall Golf Club.

Conditions could not have been better, with warm temperatures, and light winds and a course in pristine order. This was reflected in the competition standard scratch being reduced to 69 due to the 30 sub par scores.

Gary Parker (12 hcp), teeing off at 8am, set a challenging score of 64 nett which was equalled by Robert Morgan who held a handicap of 23 but had to compete off the competition limit of 18!

A further shot back were junior, Tom Smith, Simon Dean and Union player Martin Cockcroft who recorded the lowest gross score of 68.

All these scores however could not beat one of the later starters, Richard Spencer, who continued his excellent run of form with the winning score of 63 nett and in the process further reduced his handicap to 11.9 after starting the season at 15.
