Crow Nest Park held its annual 27-hole Golden Jubilee Trophy men's competition on Saturday and despite it being Independence Day the gents joined forces and played in pairs for this major title. The tournament is played over three loops of nine holes with the format being a better ball, then a greensome and finally a foursomes. The last nine holes really can test the strength of a friendship with alternate shots being played!
The overall winners won by the narrowest of margins, which confirms the importance of ensuring that the handicap allowances are spot on.
The winners Steve Smith and Chris Mowl (pictured) beat perennial runners up Duncan Lambert and Ian Donald by just 0.1 of a shot. Tight indeed!
Results:
Steve Smith & Chris Mowl = 96.2
Duncan Lambert & Ian Donald = 96.3
Richard Langley-Webb & Mike Greenberry = 97.5
