In the individual matchplay final John Thomson (Woodsome Hall) beat Richard Loddick (Huddersfield,) by one hole. A closely contested game saw Thomson standing on the 17th tee, 2 up, but Loddick won the 17th to take the match to the last hole.
Both players found the green, at the par three final hole, with their tee shots leaving Loddick (pictured) a tricky down hill putt which just shaved the hole. Thomson left his first putt across the green three feet short meaning he had to hole the next one to prevent the match going up the 19th. He held his nerve to become the first player from Woodsome Hall to win the individual title.
The team final between Lightcliffe and Marsden ended in a comfortable victory for Lightcliffe by six points to two. The first three of the four games were wins for Lightcliffe by margins of 4 and 3, the others being 3 and 2 victories.
The last pair form Marsden made the score more respectable by a resounding 5 and 4 win. This is the first occasion that the team final has been contested by two nine-hole clubs.
