There was a full field of 92 golfers from all parts of the country, including one from France, and despite the heavy afternoon rain, 85 went on the complete the full 36 holes.
A feature of the event was the prominence of Huddersfield Golf Club members who were previously members of Bradley Hall, namely Andrew Shaw and Richard Broadley who were first on the tee at 7am followed shortly afterwards by James Fairhurst.
Both Andrew (scratch) and Richard (plus 1), completed their first rounds with gross scores of two under par 68, to set a challenging target for the rest of the field. This however was matched by home club members, Dean Alexis (8 hcp), junior team member, Josh Bailes (9 hcp), Martin Cockcroft (3 hcp), Bruce Bain (9 hcp) and Michael Appleyard (5 hcp). However, this was eventually bettered by another home club member and former winner of the event, Scott Peel (8 hcp) with a nett 65 and his playing partner, Chris Rudd (4 hcp) of Ryburn with a nett 67.
Andrew and Richard opened the second round at noon and despite the heavy rain were able to return scores of 69 and 68 respectively, giving Andy a nett score of 137 to Richard's 138 which proved sufficient for Andy to claim the trophy for the second time and to open up the field for other prize winners.
Dean Alexis with his second round score of 71 was the only other golfer to finish under par but left agonisingly 1 shot outside the prizes. Scott Peel with a nett score of 76 finally finished in joint 5th place but had the consolation of picking up the prize for the first round best nett score. The best nett for round two was won by Kevin Fowler of Todmorden who beat his playing partner, Clice McFadzean on a better back 9.
Likewise, Chris Rudd, who finished with a level par 140, was able to claim the prize for the best gross score in round one and James Fairhurst with his gross 69 collected the best gross for the second round.
Finally and in keeping with competitions at Bradley Hall, life member, County Golfer, Centenary Captain (and the list goes on...!!) Andy Whitworth collected not for the first time the prize for the lowest gross score of 142.
The week was concluded with the presentation of prizes by club captain, Nick Wheelwright.
