The final major competition at Bradley Hall Golf Club took place on Saturday with a field of 151 golfers experiencing a course in prime condition, almost no breeze and continuous sunshine.
The good weather and slick greens inevitably resulted in some excellent scores. The early pace was set by Jim O'Brien (12 hcp) with his return of 42 points being followed closely by one of the members currently in excellent form, Gary Parker (11 hcp) with 40.
It was then not until late afternoon when further good returns were registered, with Terry Jackson (7 hcp) moving into second place with his score of 41 and David Ellis (9 hcp) with 39.
Finally, in the very last match, Mick Appleyard (6 hcp) tied the leading 42 and won the event with a better back nine despite having dropped two shots on the first hole.
In Division Two, Owen Hall (19 hcp) edged ahead of Peter Elsworth (17 hcp) with their scores of 39 and 38 respectively.
