Alliance President Richard Badrock and his partner Fred Leek from Castlefields took top spot in the second Alliance fixture at Dewsbury yesterday.
In what was a high scoring competition, helped by excellent conditions, Badrock and Leek amassed an excellent 43 points. The score eventually held up to win on a back nine count back from father and son partnership Mick and Andy Appleyard from Bradley Hall and Fixby respectively.
With both pairs scoring an excellent 43 points it was the blistering 24 points on the back nine that led Badrock and Leek to victory, with 21 of these points being scored in seven holes by Leek. The Appleyard's combined brilliantly to card a better ball score of three under gross for their 43 points.
In the Pro-Am section Ron Tickle and his partner David Walshaw, playing off twenty from Lightcliffe, scored an excellent 43 points which included five birdies from Tickle. Their score proved unbeatable in what was a tight contest in the high scoring Pro-Am competition. In joint second place was Crow Nest Park winner Rob Booth from Bradley Hall and Darren Arber from West End with 42 points.
Alliance Treasurer James Washington said, "The Alliance would like to thank Dewsbury Golf Club for their tremendous help and efforts in helping to organise the day and to all the competitors that took part. The course was in excellent condition with the greens getting special mention for their quality." He added, "We were fortunate to have excellent weather and with the service and hospitality up to Dewsbury’s usual high standards the day was an overwhelming success. It’s no wonder that Dewsbury has quickly become a popular venue for visitors and events such as ours."
