Crow Nest Finals Day

The 'Grand Finale' at Crow Nest Park was played-out at the weekend in the form of their Finals Days which was held in glorious weather.

Ben Adamson won the Holmes Trophy (Junior Knockout) with a stunning performance which included six gross birdies in 16 holes as he beat the Captains Son, Tom Broadbent, by the margin of 3 & 2.

Meanwhile Head Greenkeeper, Rob Gee, continued his fine form of late by winning the Singles Knockout by the margin of 3 & 2 over Adam Wadsworth.

Although Rob stated that he played well he claimed that Adam had performed equally well in his first final, but the difference had been only down to the putting.

Gee made it a seasons Major double having won the Scratch Championship last week.

In the Pairs Knockout final Club Captain & his Vice Captain, Martin Broadbent & Glynn Owen, took the honours over-powering Mark Widdop & Craig Helliwell by a margin of just 1 hole as the match went into extra holes and was decided on the 19th green with Owen securing the victory with a par.

Not being left out of the proceedings the Ladies Singles knockout final, also went the distance and more with the match between former Lady Captains Ann Stafford and Mandy Widdop going to extra holes.

Stafford won the match on the 19th green and celebrated with a drink in the 19th hole afterwards where a crowd of over 50 enjoyed the barbecue and presentation which took place after the matches.

The Rabbits knockout final was won by Ian Clarke who defeated defending champion John Farrar in the Rabbits showcase final by a margin of 5 & 4.

The Rabbit Shield was won by Steve McDermott and the Handicap skins event was won by Nick Day.
