TERRIFIC 64 ROUND SWINGS IT FOR 75-YEAR-OLD JIM

Jim Sykes only took up golf 5 years ago and now fast approaching 76 years of age he has won his first major competition at Outlane Golf Club.

His first round of 67 nett put him into the Mid-Summer Final with 29 other finalists and going out in the penultimate group (best first round scores go out last) his brilliant round of 64 nett pipped Neil Hughes (in the last group) although his final 67 nett would have normally been good enough to win any competition.

Whilst the conditions were ideal and the course was in immaculate condition only 7 finalists managed a sub 70 scores due to the course being lengthened for the final. All the finalists said they have never seen the course in better condition at this time of the year.
