Andy back to Plus 2 as Flathers lands Lilley Cup

The Lilley Cup (men's stableford competiton) was held at Bradley Hall Golf Club on Saturday 12 June with a field of 155.

For a change, the better scores came from the later starters but a reasonable target of 39 points from Ian Booth, Peter Skelton and Richard Payne, the latter recording 24 points on the outward nine, provided a good target to beat.

Junior team member Josh Bailes and scratch team member, Martin Cockcroft went one better with 40 points but they were unable to contend with the 43 points from almost the last out, Andy Flathers. Andy has recently joined the club from Bradley Park and was playing in only his second competition and obviously had no problems with his new course and in the process, dropping into the 'tigers' section.

Andy Whitworth, one year shy of his 50th birthday, once more recorded the lowest gross of 66 and in the process reclaimed his plus 2 handicap.
