The Halifax, Huddersfield Union team played their second match of the season away against the East Riding Union at Hull Golf Club on Sunday the 13th June, and came up against a very strong East Riding side, the east coast team on this sort of form must be strongly fancied to retain their Inter District Union League title.
The Hull Golf Club was in fantastic condition, with the Greens fast and receptive, good golf was the order of the day in ideal golfing conditions, unfortunately it was the East Riding team that produced the best golf on the day.
The result in the foursomes set up the home team with the momentum to carry on and win the game convincingly, the home side were 9 – 3 up after the foursomes, a good win by Iain Powell & Brad Tupman, and a halved match by Dave Stafford & Ben Crowther, the highlights for the visitors.
The singles went very much the same way with the strong East Riding team always in control, they won the singles 19 – 5, to close out the match 28 – 8.
The Halifax Huddersfield winners in the afternoon singles were Tom Goodair & Brad Tupman, and a very hard fought half by Dave Stafford.
The next match is at home against the Harrogate Union at Huddersfield Golf Club on June 27th.
