Leonard & Brown Come Out on Top at Bradley Hall

With 20 members being in Ireland on their annual golfing break, a reduced field of 140 golfers competed in the 'Memorial Stableford' competition at Bradley Hall Golf Club.

The competition is run to commemorate two members, Tom Park and Bill Garnett who were both tragically killed in a road accident on the M6 in the late 1980's.

In Division 1, for the 'Tom Park Trophy' scratch team member, Chris Mather, set the early target with his 36 points despite dropping shots on each of the four last holes. He was then overtaken by Gary Binks, a new member this season, having transferred from Lightcliffe. He had an identical score but with a better back nine.

Also challenging with the same 36 points were Mike Oldroyd, Mike Riley and Graham Brazier. However, playing later in the day, Mark Leonard with his 37 points took the title to claim his first prize since joining the club several years ago.

In Division 2 (Bill Garnett Trophy) another player to claim his first title was David Brown with the best return of the day of 38 points and just edging out Sean Lang and Simon Dean, coincidentally a playing partner of Mark Leonard.

The competition standard scratch was 71.
