The final men's competition of the current season, the Autumn Stableford, was held at Bradley Hall Golf Club on Saturday 25th September with a field of 150 golfers.
The early starters were greeted with a slight ground frost and the recent regular attire of shorts and short sleeved shirts were nowhere to be found however, as the day progressed the temperatures rose and the scoring began to improve.
As lunchtime arrived, the early pace in Division 1 had been set by Dave Maguire (10) with his total of 37 points and closely followed by John Woodhouse (8) with 36, whilst in the second division, Geoff Pearson and Ian Booth were the leaders, both with 36 points.
As the later starters took advantage of the pleasant conditions, so did the scoring and the eventual winner in Division 1 was past captain, Geoff Todd with a magnificent score of 41 points. Three points behind was Mike Oldroyd, a former member of Outlane, who returned a best score of the year of 38 points and Phil Binks slipped into third place with the better back nine 37.
The eventual winner of the 2nd Division was Garry Frost with 40 points which was 4 shots clear of the runner up Dave Pryor with the best 36 point return.
The difficult early conditions no doubt accounted for the CSS of 71.
