Matthew is Union Champ!

On Sunday 26th September at the Huddersfield Golf Club the HHDUGC's matchplay finals took place.

Winner of the Matchplay Championship was Matthew Colcombe from Longley Park Golf Club who beat Matthew Broadbent of Woodsome Hall Golf Club by a margin of 10 & 8 in the 36 hole final.

This is only the second time that a father and son have appeared on the trophy following his father, Mick's, success back in 1989.

Keith and Mark England are the other father and son to have won the event.

Whilst Matthew's father, a member at Dewsbury District Golf Club, also won the Junior Matchplay title in 1979 and 1981.

Winner of the Junior Matchplay Championship this year was Tom Williams of Lightcliffe Golf Club who beat Ethan Shaw from Marsden Golf Club by a margin of 6 & 4.
