Willow Valley Ladies Going Strong in 2010

The Ladies Section at Willow Valley Golf & Country Club are enjoying a terrific 2010 season.

Former England cricket internationals, Janet Tedstone and Linda Burnley, have qualified through to the Daily Mail Foursomes final.

They started their quest for the title back in April and now, seven rounds later, they have made it through to the last 16 stage.

On the way they have recorded home victories against Huddersfield, Crow Nest Park, Woodham & Owston Hall plus negotiated fine wins at Selby, Outlane & Pannal.

The event will be staged at Marriott St. Pierre, Chepstow on Monday & Tuesday 18th & 19th October. To take the trophy they will have to win four rounds of foursomes golf over the two days.

The ladies section are also to defend the Yorkshire ADP title on Sunday 5th September. The semi finals and final will be played at Allerthorpe Park Golf Club near York where they will play Calverley in the semi final.

Hopefully this will be followed by a final against either Flaxby or Thirsk & Northallerton. The squad for the event is Janet Tedstone, Linda Burnley, Audra Barlow, Denise Page, Diane Greenwood and Lesley Shaw.

Meanwhile, on Monday September 6th Denise Page and Burnley will travel to Gainsborough to play in the Plate Final of the Ping 4 Ball Better Ball competition.

And finally, on Monday September 20th Denise Page and Lesley Shaw will play at St. Andrews in the Grand Final of the Peugeot Coronation Foursomes competition. Qualification for the final was gained by winning a Regional Qualifier at Hessle Golf Club with a score of 43 points.

Helen Newton, Sales Representative at WVGC said, "I am sure you will agree that this is a very impressive performance by the ladies of Willow Valley. Let’s hope we can bring a trophy or two back home!"
