The Cresta Trophy which is played for in the Outlane Mixed Open proved to be a local knowledge of golf for all the prize winners especially the winners Brian Cassidy and Charlotte Hirst both of the home club who took first prize with their 42 Stableford points.
The rest of the prize winners had at least one Outlane member in their ranks and the second place was decided with 5 couples on 39 points and had to go to a countback for the 2nd to 4th place.
In second place was Outlane lady member Linda Easton with Terry Gills from Styal Golf Club who had the better back nine of all the other pairs on their 39 points. Carl Livesey of Outlane swapped his usual husband and wife pairing to partner Gina Fielding of Crosland Heath and his wife Julie and partner marked their card to register another 39 points to claim third spot.
Another Outlane member Allan Woodhead (he also won nearest the pin prize on the 5th for the gents) partnered his daughter Diane Appleyard who plays at Keighley to register a 39 points total which was again a better back nine than the remaining same points totals. Nearest the pin prize for the ladies on the 16th was won by Linda Foxcroft of Forest Park Golf Club and there was a prize for nearest the pin in two on the 17th hole which was won by Sean Labass of Outlane whilst no lady managed to get on the green in two for their prize.
The Mixed Open was sponsored by SOLARLEX who had Rob Greaves a Director from the company to present the prizes and also donated each competitor with a golf ball for the competition which was played in glorious weather from start to finish.
