On Saturday 4th June, the Rabbit Captain, Howard Brook hosted his 'Rabbit Captains Day' at Halifax Bradley Hall Golf Club.
And unlike other competitions, the major prizes are presented to the higher handicap members, the 'Rabbits' (16 handicap upwards).
However, the competition is open to all categories of golfers and not for the first time, a certain Andrew Whitworth (scratch), produced another outstanding example of his ability.
Starting at lunchtime, in company with his good friend, Paul Taylor, he set an unbeatable target for the Tigers with a gross 65, only 1 shot over his long standing course record.
Needless to say, ordinarily, this would have won the best gross prize of the day but as it was a handicap competition, he received the prize for the best nett score in handicaps up to 15. This resulted in the best gross prize going to his playing partner, Paul Taylor (3), with a commendable gross score of 70.
In second place was Nicky Lodge (9), who has only just returned to golf after a break of 3 years following a serious leg injury and playing in only his third competition and returning a nett score of 67.
Close behind with identical scores were David Maguire, Ian Ambler and Paul Taylor.
In the Rabbits section however, the four main prizes were picked up by the higher handicap members, all with nett scores of 65.
Taking the Rabbit Captains Cup, on a back nine count back was Simon Dean (16) who as a result returned to the Tigers for at least the remainder of the season along with Rod Goldstein (16).
In third place was a new member to the Club, Mark Dyson (19) and picking up the final prize was past Rabbit Captain, Steve Hurlin (24).
The day was rounded off with a dinner and prize presentation hosted by the Rabbit Captain.
