The final day of the Yorkshire PGA Championship hosted by Willow Valley Golf once again proved a tough test in wet and windy conditions but the scores improved from day one reflecting the knowledge they had all gained from playing the previous day.
Out of the pack after 9 holes came David Sturgeon who carded 2 under against the 2 over score of overnight leader Neil Cheetham.
The experience and a winter of golf on the sunshine tour in South Africa gave Cheetham the advantage to deal with the pressure of the final 9 holes. He pulled away again, regaining his 2 shot overnight lead which he held on to as he holed out on the 18th green.
Local favourite and Teaching professional Darren Rands from home club Willow Valley Golf made an early charge tying with the leaders after 9 holes. Unfortunately the back nine saw him drop 4 shots and slip back into the chasing pack eventually finishing top local professional just 4 shots behind.
