The English Schools National Championship was played at Belton Park Golf Club, near Grantham, Lincolnshire on Monday 27th June 2011.The championship is a 36 holes scratch strokeplay competition.
Jamie Bower, the Yorkshire Boys captain from Meltham, scored a 1 over par 72 in the morning round, at this stage he was 4 strokes behind the leaders.
In the afternoon round Bower was 1 under par after 9 holes. He then played a stunning back nine in 29 strokes, 6 under par, for a round of 7-under par 64 for a total of 136 (6-under par). This won the championship with his 64 being a new course record.
There were 5 regional championships to decide who played at the National Championships. Bower played at Whickham Golf Club in Durham where he won the 36 hole championship
There was also a Girls Championship on the day. There are 12 and six places for the Boy's and Girls respectively for the international teams to play against Scotland in September at Kilmarnock Barassie Golf Club. Bower is in the team. There is also an International v Wales at Copt Heath Golf Club but Jamie is unavailable for this .
