Over 140 members and guests helped to make Saturday 23rd July 2011 a day to remember for Club Captain Dean Wilson, as they enjoyed the evening celebrations at Crow Nest Park.
A record 107 competitors played in the main competition, which started with the first tee time of 7.15am. The conditions initially were reasonably calm but as the day progressed the wind picked up and caused some difficulties for the golfers who were the later starters. It was surprising, therefore, that the two best scores came from the afternoon session.
The popular winner was Eddie Spencer who carded a terrific score of net 63 and the runner up was senior golfer Graham Thomas with a net 64.
During the speeches the fine condition of this award winning course was highlighted and thanks were extended to the greens team for their efforts in producing a top quality course.
The Ladies Captains day Competition was won by Current Lady Captain and wife of the Club Captain, Ruth Wilson and the Juniors event was won by Scott Henry.
The evening presentation & function had a "Roman Toga" theme and most who attended dressed up for the occasion. A "Hogroast" was provided by the Club Caterers The Design House and this proved to be a very popular option as members "tucked " into the tasty and well presented food. The evening entertainment was provided by local singer "Bubbles" who sang for the members which resulted in an encore, as the dancing went on into the early hours.
Overall, a day to remember and one that will live long in the memories of those who attended.
