Saving the best until last

Last player out in the Presidents Prize at Outlane Golf Club, David Little, held his nerve when coming up the last hole knowing a par 5 would get him first place after Ex Rugby League player Gary Senior had held the lead throughout the day after his early start.

With the course in excellent condition 39 players were either under par or level par and also that maximum handicap total was 20 the winners score could even have been better as he normally plays off 21. The best gross went to Nigel Nuttall whose 73 was only 2 over par and it was matched by Steve Howlett who came second in the Division 1 prizes.

The Division 2 Prize was won by Dave Blundell with a 68 nett which was the same as Doug Smith but a better back 6 by the winner just pipped the Runner-Up. Nearest the pin prize on the 16th was won by Tony Stead who finished 1.80 meters from the hole.

Meanwhile, The Juniors play a Stableford competition and one player had a round that would have won the Presidents Prize if he had been playing in the main competition. Nathan Lockwood's gross 81 would have been a 61 nett and as he plays off 23 handicap he registered 49 points to be 13 points clear of second placed Jordan Barker who had 36 points.

Nathan started with a 4 pointer on the first hole and later repeated this 4 point total on another hole whilst scoring regulation pars on the rest of the holes. The remarkable round saw his handicap reduced by 5 shots and he now plays off 18.
