Weatherspoons manager Simon McKenzie won the Outlane July Division 1 medal after playing early morning when the weather was not too good but as the day went on it improved for the afternoon players.
The winners round of 69 nett set the standard that was required but with several players registering no- returns after the deluge any player who came in with a below par nett round (71) had a chance for a prize and so it proved with only 5 entries below par, which put the standard scratch score up to 71 and that is virtually unknown at Outlane.
In second place in this division was Gavin Hirst who's 70 nett just pipped Jarrad Hazelden on a count back but the latter had the lowest gross and these three were the only ones to beat par in the first division. The Division 2 section only had 2 beating par with Brian Reynolds 65 nett and Steve Brearey 2 shots back with his 67 nett.
The July Medal has a format that incorporates The Sudworth Cup and was named after its first winner Mr.Elijah Sudworth in 1921 and is played as a Qualifying competition ,followed by scratch matchplay knockout by the top 8 gross scores .
