Smooth finish wins it for Barry

Painter and decorator Barry Armitage won the Outlane Captains Weekend and he did it in style with a score of 65 nett on the Saturday and another wining score of 69 nett on the Sunday to register a 134 total and brush aside the following players on 142 nett.

With 4 players on 142 nett it came down to the Sunday round to sort out the prizes and it was Gavin Hirst who had the best round with Simon Senior the next and Kevin McGrath and Tim Brook the unlucky ones to miss out.

With the Captains Prize of overall results of the weekend taking the main honours there is also individual Saturday and Sunday prizes to play for in first and second division categories and it was Mark Walkers 67 nett on the Saturday that pipped Geoff Podmores 67 nett on a better back nine in the first division and the Sunday winner was Bryn Jenkinson who had a 70 nett with Carl Livesey one shot further back with 71 nett.

The second division winner on Saturday was Ron Jarman (66) with David Crowther (67) in second place and Sundays winner was Geoffrey Hirst (68) followed by Chris Booth (68) again on a countback. The best gross for the weekend was won by Jarrad Hazelden who had a 75.

The juniors play on a Sunday for their prize and Michael Thomas came out on top with 36 Stableford points and Joe Blackwell in second spot with 34 points to just get the better of Tom Armitage (34).

Their was also a hole in one on the Saturday with Len Campey (pictured) aceing the 14th hole with a rescue club.The Saturday evening Captains Weekend Social saw The Port Brothers entertaining the members with a fantastic Rock and Roll evening and with the weather and course in excellent condition it was a weekend of great success.
