The President of Bradley Hall Golf Club, Frank Buck, held his 'Presidents Day' competition on Saturday 27 August 2011 when a field of 157 male golfers competed for a variety of prizes.
The forecast of heavy rain in the afternoon proved to be totally inaccurate and instead, bright sunshine was prevalent until dusk. However, the morning golfers experienced several very heavy showers which resulted in standing water on a number of greens and many participants abandoning their rounds. However, the competition continued and taking into account the conditions, early starters, Nick Kelly (5) and playing partner, Gary Parker (10) returned remarkable nett scores of 68 and 69 respectively to set the early pace.
Starting an hour later, Damian Roebuck (13) then moved into the lead with a better back nine nett score also of 68. Surprisingly, these three scores could not be bettered although valid attempts were made by Nick Lumb (10) and Mark Armitage (12), both with nett 69's and Andy Whitworth (scratch) with the best gross of the day of 70. The difficulty, particularly for the morning starters, resulted in a C.S.S. of 72.
The day was completed with a dinner and prize presentation to the following competitors:-
