Fixby's Ray Brooke has landed the coveted Lawrence Batley Seniors Individual title.

The finals of the Lawrence Batley Seniors League were played at Woodsome Hall on Friday 26th Aug.

The individual match play final was between Brooke (Huddersfield) and Steve Wilkinson (Bradley Hall).

In a see-saw match, the first hole was won by Ray when he chipped in having been in the trees from the tee, only for Steve to go two up after eight holes.

The new Woodsome Hall bunkers proved to be Steve's undoing when he failed to recover from the sand on several occasions leaving Ray a winner by a 2 & 1 margin.

Meanwhile the team final between Wortley and Branshaw was very close. With two wins each leaving the match tied at 4-4, the result was decided by the winning scores. 

The wins by Wortley were both by 2 & 1, Branshaw won one game by 2 & 1, the other being by just 1 up leaving Wortley as champions by the smallest possible margin.
