The Yorkshire Golf Club Stewards held their Yorkshire Day at Outlane and it was the Low Laithes Golf Steward and his team who took the honours with a score of 99 Stableford points from best two scores to count off full handicap.
However home club Outlane ran them close and also finished with 99 points but their back nine of 51 points was 1 point behind the winners 52 points.
The Low Laithes team of Ray Booth, Harry Ardwick ,Colin Walker and Paul Burton put together a round that was made from mid-handicap members and they also had local knowledge as they had played the course before which always helps.
The Yorkshire Day event was sponsored by GROUSE WHISKY which became appropriate because a member of the Outlane team Neil Hughes had a hole in one on the 5th hole . This was the third hole in one at Outlane over a 3 day period and it is an open question as to whether any other golf club can equal this distinction.
On Saturday Chris Rothery aced his tee shot on the fifth hole and then Charlotte Hirst followed this on Sunday and finally Neil Hughes also completed the hat trick on the same hole in the Yorkshire Day Competition which the Yorkshire Golf Stewards run.
The evening finished with a Yorkshire meal of fish and chips and the Chairman of the Golf Stewards Eric Snowden announced that the money raised from their events so far had reached £32,000 and various charities have already benefited from it.
