Pitchforth rolls back years for Remembrance Cup win

On Saturday 13 August, the men's stroke play 'Remembrance Cup' was held at Bradley Hall with a field of 150 competitors.

With the recent rains, the course was in pristine condition and despite light winds, the early starters found scoring difficult with only Tony Morrison (8) breaking par with a nett 68 and his playing partner, Rob Holroyd (15) with a nett 70.

However, by mid afternoon, the leaderboard began to change with Alex Foster (14), leading with a nett 67 along with David Rhodes (12) and Mark Leonard (12).

Starting at lunchtime 'in form' Sean Lang (14) then went into a clear 2 shot lead with his nett 65 and he began to look like the winner, only to be pushed into second place by long serving member, Philip Pitchforth (13) with his nett 64.

In the seventies and early eighties, Philip was the man to beat at Bradley Hall but was then overtaken by the likes of Andy Whitworth and co. and he admitted that he was as shocked as anyone with his winning score, this being confirmed by a comment on his scorecard as 'honest'.

Another score of note was that of 16 year old Connor Judson (5) who returned the lowest gross of 72 after re-joining the Club the previous week.
