Winter pairs event is back

Entries for the 2011-12 Yorkshire Matchplay Winter Pairs competition are now open!

The knockout event, played throughout the off-season, returns for the 2011-12 campaign after a successful launch last year when Crow Nest duo, Nigel Wood & David Wilcock, reached finals day at Moortown Golf Club.

In 2011-12 the climax will be at Huddersfield Golf Club where the last eight pairs will compete over the famous Fixby links for the overall title. There is also an increased prize-fund and the entry-fee has been reduced to an amazing £15 per pair!

The competition, organised as a spin-off to the Northern Matchplay Golf Championship, allows players to keep their game in shape by retaining an element of competitive golf during the winter period whilst also having the chance to play new courses.

Summary:

  • Open to male members of a club affiliated to the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs
  • Only £15 per pair to enter
  • Win a maximum of FIVE matches to reach finals day
  • Early rounds played on a regional basis to minimise travelling
  • EIGHT pairs make finals day at Huddersfield Golf Club in March 2012
  • Brunch, golf & dinner included at finals day
  • Excellent prize fund
