Very good start, good finish & good result for Calvin

The Wood Trophy which is in it's 75th year at Outlane after Philip Wood donated it to celebrate his year of captaincy at the club in 1935 was won by Calvin Howell with 42 points in the Stableford competition and he had a 3 point winning margin from Tim Brook who had a better back nine countback from Jeremy Wood.

The winner had an excellent start with a gross birdie on the first hole and did not drop another shot from his handicap until the 11th hole where he failed to score .He got back to winning ways from this point and his 20 points on the back nine added to his 22 points on the first nine holes was sufficient to claim a fine win from Tim Brook who had earlier won the Wednesday mid-week medal competition.

14 years old Tom Wimpenny continued his good form and promise with 37 points which could have been better with 2 no scores registered.

Leading scores
Calvin Howell = 42 points
Tim Brook = 39 points
Jeremy Wood = 39 points
Paul Phillips = 38 points
Trevor Phillips = 37 points
Tom Wimpenny = 37 points
